Report Summary:

Gross dollar volume (GDV) for Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards (CC) in the U.S. climbed 9.4% year-on-year (YOY) in 1Q/17 reaching $793 billion.

Visa led the way in the first quarter posting a 19.8% YOY gain for U.S. GDV, offsetting the American Express decline.

Visa reported first quarter U.S. credit card GDV of $418 billion, compared to $444 billion for 4Q/16 and $349 billion for 1Q/16.
