Travelex Partners OKI for Regional Expansion

Travelex Japan, one of the largest merchants specializing in currency exchange, announced the installation of OKI’s RG7 Currency Exchanger at two stores at Narita International Airport. Travelex began operating the RG7 Currency Exchanger located at Terminal 1 on July 19; the second machine, located at Terminal 2, is slated to begin operating July 26. The RG7 Currency Exchanger currency exchange machine is capable of simultaneously recycling deposits and accommodating withdrawals between Japanese yen and multiple foreign currencies, thereby automating exchange tasks and accelerating the pace of foreign currency exchange transactions. The deployment of these two machines follows the installation of the RG7 Currency Exchanger at the Haneda Airport International Terminal Station; the latter machine began operating March 4. Travelex and OKI plan to capitalize on the partnership and deploy additional machines.

MasterCard Announces CMO Retirement

MasterCard announced that Alfredo Gangotena will retire as the company’s chief marketing officer, effective September 1, after nine years with the Company and having held the role since April 2010. Tim Murphy, MasterCard’s chief product officer, will add oversight of marketing to his current responsibilities on an interim basis as the search for a chief marketing officer is conducted. As chief marketing officer, Gangotena led the company’s advertising, sponsorships, promotions, research and digital marketing initiatives. Gangotena was the Global Products & Solutions lead and general manager for MasterCard Europe. Gangotena was also the senior vice president and general manager, MasterCard Asia/Pacific Region.

Oberthur Provides CANAL+ OVERSEAS Prepaid Pay TV Subscriptions

Oberthur Technologies identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies announced CANAL+ OVERSEAS, the international subsidiary of CANAL+ Group, has selected its electronic top-up solution to dematerialise the distribution of their prepaid Pay TV renewal of subscriptions in Africa. Using electronic top-up will allow CANAL+ OVERSEAS to dematerialise and automate the reselling process of prepaid subscriptions. CANAL+ OVERSEAS’ retailers will be able to instantly top-up subscribers’ Pay TV accounts via a mobile phone. The platform will also manage e-voucher purchasing and delivery via SMS. NCR Interactive Video Technology Earns Innovation Award

North Peace Savings and Credit Union (NPSCU) has won the National Credit Union Innovation Award, Canada, for its implementation of interactive video technology from NCR Corporation, the global leader in consumer transaction technologies. In the 12 months after installing the technology, nearly half of NPSCU’s retail members used the solution and provided a satisfaction rating of 79.1 percent; NPSCU saw net assets grow 13 percent and membership grow 5.7 percent as a result of the technology. NPSCU’s personal teller machines (PTMs) are based on the technology behind NCR APTRA Interactive Teller, which connects individuals to a live, remote teller via a two-way video/audio conversation over an ATM. The remote tellers have full control of ATM functions, creating an interactive experience in which members can complete more than 95 percent of typical branch transactions and do them faster – with transaction times typically 33 percent faster than an average teller interaction.

Cardlytics Appoints New CFO

Cardlytics Card-Linked Marketing named Jim Morgan as its first Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Morgan will lead the finance and accounting teams at Cardlytics, and will be based in Atlanta. Jim joins Cardlytics from Liaison Technologies, Inc., a data management and integration company, where he led global finance and human resources after the company’s acquisition of nuBridges, Inc. in 2011, and where he had been CFO and Corporate Secretary. Jim holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.
