MasterCard in the APMEA region the appointment of Robert Keenan in the role of Asia/Pacific Region Lead for Debit and Jason Tymms will take over as Prepaid Lead for the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa region. Rob, who has been with MasterCard since March 2005, will be responsible for developing and growing the company’s debit products and innovations in the Asia/Pacific region, effective May 16. Rob was responsible for leading debit in two key divisions – the UK & Ireland and the Eastern European Markets, where he managed a team in charge of driving product strategy and innovation, as well as the development and management of the MasterCard suite of debit products and solutions. He also was with Switch Card Services, the former local debit scheme in the UK, where he was Senior Business Manager, responsible for managing various product propositions and driving the day-to-day business needs of a domestic debit organization. Jason Tymms, who was previously the business leader of Prepaid Product Management for Australasia since 2011, will be relocating to Singapore and taking on the role of Prepaid Lead for the APMEA region.
Telefónica and MasterCardMFS (Mobile Financial Service), a joint venture between Telefónica and MasterCard Worldwide, is launching Zuum mobile payment service. Allowing customers access to a pre-paid account on their phone that will allow them to transfer money, buy credits for pre-paid mobile phones, and pay bills, customers can also choose to receive a pre-paid card from MasterCard which is connected to the same pre-paid account. Customers can use the card to make purchases in more than 1.8 million affiliated establishments and withdraw money in Cirrus ATMs. Zuum uses USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology to enable users to access their accounts from their Vivo mobile phone, using any device. It’s as simple as sending a text message, but without the cost. There’s no maintenance fee for the account or the card.

ACI Worldwide payment systems was elected to the steering committee of the EMV Migration Forum. An independent cross-industry organization formed to help the payments ecosystem in the United States successfully move from magnetic stripe technology to secure EMV technology, EMV Migration Forum also appointed ACI’s Dan Heimann, consulting manager, Back Office Solutions, vice-chairman of the steering committee. Mr. Heimann is recognized as a global EMV leader thanks to his role in helping payment organizations implement and maintain EMV programs since the initiative began in 1998.
NCR Corporation is growing its relationship with Dollar Bank, which will begin replacing 60 older non-NCR ATMs with NCR’s deposit-taking NCR “SelfServ.” Complete with scalable deposit module, Dollar Bank’s ATMs will run on NCR “APTRA Edge” software for multivendor ATM environments. NCR “SelfServ” ATMs with scalable deposit module (SDM) make the deposit portion of an ATM transaction twice as fast. SDM is the only technology in deployment that allows consumers to deposit both cash and checks simultaneously, in any orientation, through a single slot. This consumer-friendly technology makes ATM deposits faster and easier, and helps banks improve the customer experience. In addition to the SDM units, Dollar also is replacing 10 older ATMs with traditional NCR SelfServ ATMs.
