The Bancorp Payment Solutions group will be issuing The UnionPay Travel Prepaid Card for United States residents traveling to Asia. More than 3.5 billion UnionPay cards have been issued internationally and the UnionPay Travel Prepaid Card is the first UnionPay card to be issued within the United States. The card can be purchased at Agent banks and loaded at the bank or online via account to card transfer after micro deposit verification. Though the card is targeted to those planning to travel to Asia, the card will be accepted within the US wherever UnionPay cards are accepted. UnionPay acceptance is growing dramatically and is currently accepted in every major US city.
Allied Payment Network online bill payment services will demonstrate at FinovateSpring 2013 its “Picture Pay” mobile bill payment app. The app allows financial institutions’ customers to pay bills using the camera on their mobile device. The “Picture Pay” app lets users take a picture of the bill, enter the amount and date, and the bill is paid. Picture Pay’s technology does the rest by reading the data from the bill, then syncing with the customer’s bank or credit union to process the payment. Additionally, Allied will debut a new functionality to Picture Pay – Voice PayTM – which allows users to pay bills on their mobile device simply by speaking.

Discover signed contracts with 50 merchant acquirers that will extend PayPal’s in-store acceptance to more than 2 million merchant outlets by the end of 2013. This eight months after PayPal announced its intent to create a payment option to leverage Discover’s payments infrastructure to provide PayPal’s 55+ million active domestic account holders access to millions of retail stores, restaurants, gas pumps and more. Some of the largest merchant acquirers and processors have already committed to offering PayPal, including Vantiv, WorldPay, Global Payments, First American Payments, Heartland Payment Systems and TSYS.
