Starting in December, ATM users in the U.S. will have the ability to make Western Union money transfers, buy prepaid wireless phone minutes and cash government or payroll checks thanks to an exclusive new package of ATM services called Triton Waves.
Triton has signed agreements with three name-brand service partners to create the first single-source package of transaction services in the industry, announced Triton Executive Vice President Brian Kett. “Western Union(R) at ATM, Euronet’s PaySpot(TM) prepaid wireless phone recharge and Cashworks(TM) check cashing are already the number one choices in their respective categories due to industry recognition of the quality products they provide,” he said.
ATM owners who add Triton Waves(TM) to their ATMs can expect a 30% to 50% increase in revenue, according to Kett. “Initial merchant reaction has been very favorable toward the package, which promises to increase their number of transaction fees with little or no additional cost,” he said.
“Other providers release services one by one or require either hardware upgrades or entirely new ATMs,” says Sam Jonas, president and CEO of Cash Resources, an independent ATM distributor. “Triton allows me to provide merchants three value-added services in one easy step without my customers having to buy a new ATM. Triton will be adding additional bundles of services to the Triton Waves(TM) offering in coming months. The income potential of new ATM services such as Western Union(R) money transfers is indicated in a recent report from Celent Communications, “Global Money Transfers: Exploiting the Remittance Goldmine,” which predicts that revenues from ATM money transfers will grow from $40 million in 2002 to $2.34 billion in 2006.
