CardBASE Technologies announced that
St.George Bank, Australia, has gone live with ChipPURSE, the Visa Cash
electronic purse processing solution, which supports St.George’s existing
Visa Cash payment and Worldsmart Technologies loyalty program.
Developed by CardBASE, the Visa Cash modules are part of MASCOT, the
company’s multi-application smart card management solution, and provides
St.George with complete Issuing, Acquiring and local Visa Cash Processing
enabling the Bank to completely support the existing smart card products.
The solution, endorsed by Visa International, is a result of two years close
co-operation between Visa and CardBASE.
Commenting on behalf of CardBASE, David O’Hagan VP Sales said, “This is a
very strategic account for CardBASE, we see St.George as a key customer in
our drive into the Asia Pacific market, which we believe will be the lead
region in the deployment of next generation multi-application smart card
products.
It also proves that smart card technology can deliver real business benefits
to organizations with the vision and desire to seek out innovative ways of
generating additional cardholder and retailer value. The combination of a
strong payment brand, a proven business case, powered by MASCOT, paves the
way for St.George Bank to deliver innovative card products in the region.”
St.George Bank National Manager Chip & Card Relationships, Ray Webster,
said, “The CardBASE system allows St.George migrate to a solution that
ensures no customer impact on the Bank’s existing Visa Cash program.
Additionally MASCOT allows for flexibility to upgrade functionality at any
time in the future due to it’s modular design.”
Commenting from Visa International, Vipin Kalra – Head of Chip Cards
Australia & New Zealand said, “St.George Bank in Australia has proven that a
Visa Cash program combined with a Loyalty program, when positioned and
marketed cleverly, can generate substantial customer interest. We are
pleased to have partnered with CardBASE to provide such a platform to
St.George.”
“The backward compatibility to the existing Visa Cash system combined with
the future proofing of ePurse and multi-application smart card environment
makes MASCOT a unique product in the market.” Mr. Kalra added.
