Epson introduced its new M-VT101 thermal card printer. The new M-VT101 is ideal for retailers seeking a cost effective solution for printing pre-paid calling cards on credit card sized media. Epson’s cost effective M-VT101 offers a flexible solution for printing pre-paid long distance and cellular cards due to its ability to print individual cards on inexpensive blank media. The card is typically pre-printed on one side with high quality, full-color graphics while the thermal side is printed with transaction details at the point-of-sale-activation. The printer can also produce cards for a wide variety of other uses, including customer loyalty and frequent-buyer programs, gift cards, promotional offers, coupons, membership cards, event tickets, and temporary photo ID cards.
“The M-VT101 thermal card printer gives retailers the ability to print custom thermal laminated calling cards and other cards on demand, eliminating the need to buy and manage an inventory of pre-printed plastic cards in fixed denominations and fixed expiration dates. Printing thermal cards on demand costs approximately two cents per card versus 20-25 cents each for plastic cards a savings as much as 23 cents per card,” said Bud Weist, director, sales and marketing, Epson.
Clear Printing on Thermal Plastic Media or Thermal Stock
The M-VT101 prints high-resolution text and graphics on thermal coated plastic media or thermal paper stock at a clear 203 x 203 dpi resolution. Optical sensors determine the correct card positioning to ensure accurate and consistent printing and, using simple ESC/POS commands, text and graphics can be positioned on the card quickly and accurately. Windows drivers are available.
The M-VT101 small footprint and sleek design gives retailers maximum flexibility for conserving valuable counter space. As with all Epson printers, the M-VT101 is designed with ease of use and efficiency in mind. The printer features a guide for accurate card insertion and a jam resistant mechanism to ensure smooth operation. The M-VT101 prints single or double length cards quickly and its flexible formatting gives retailers a choice of card layout designs.
High Performance and Reliability
Epson reliability and connectivity are an integral part of the M-VT101. With an estimated lifetime of 100,000 printed cards, the M-VT101 delivers trouble free operations and is backed by Epson’s industry leading selection of service and support programs.
The M-VT101 supports serial interfaces allowing retailers the ability to integrate the printer into the existing POS system. High quality Kanzaki thermal paper stock is available from converters including EDM, York Label and LSI.
The M-VT101 is available through Epson’s designated sales and distribution channels. For more information on Epson products, visit Epson’s website at .
