Oberthur Card Systems’ SIMphonIC WIB v.1.2 (wireless internet browser) is the first to comply with SmartTrust’s WIB specification v.1.1 and v.1.2 and has been accepted into the SmartTrust Certified Program. The Oberthur browser card, already deployed throughout the market, will be used with the SmartTrust Delivery Platform, a solution that allows wireless carriers to manage both subscribers’ mobile services and equipment.
The SIMphonIC WIB which implements powerful features such as Java plug-ins that can be downloaded over the air (OTA), offers a flexible solution for the dynamic delivery of SMS and WAP value-added content to wireless subscribers therefore giving carriers the opportunity to generate additional revenues from new services.
Niclas Klintheim, Director Product Marketing, SIM Technology and Business Strategy at SmartTrust explained: “SmartTrust is proud to acknowledge Oberthur Card Systems as the first organization worldwide to achieve SmartTrust CertifiedTM validation for the SmartTrust WIB v.1.2. with its SIMphonIC WIB card. Launched in February 2002, the SmartTrust Certified Program reduces WIB implementation times by offering a software developer toolkit, current international specifications, developer support, testing and final certification.”
“The approval of Oberthur Card Systems’ SIMphonIC WIB by SmartTrust will strengthen the ties between our two companies. Furthermore, Oberthur’s SIMphonIC WIB v.1.2. will become a standard for products complying with the WIB v.1.1. or v.1.2 specification.” added Xavier Joffrin, Product Manager Telecom Business Unit at Oberthur Card Systems.
