National Parking Association–SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited announced that the County of Los Angeles, Department of Beaches and Harbors will complete their installation of SchlumbergerSema solar powered DGLine parking terminals and their powerful Web-based Parkfolio parking management system to manage both off-street pay and display parking and gated parking in Los Angeles County.
The multi-space parking terminals will be used for off-street beachfront and marina parking. Under the SchlumbergerSema solution, the motorist will be able to pay for parking using coin, currency and credit cards — replacing lot attendants and the unsecured ‘honor’ boxes. A motorist who wishes to park in a beach lot will be able to purchase a ticket from a SchlumbergerSema unit located in the lot and display the ticket behind their windshield. To access a marina lot, the motorist will pay at the gated unit, providing them access to marina parking.
Because the DGLine parking terminals have wireless communication capabilities, they are able to transmit every payment event to the SchlumbergerSema centrally managed Parkfolio IT platform, which then processes the data and redirects the relevant information back to LA County — in real time. This powerful data management feature offers the county the ability to monitor the status of their equipment via the Web on a twenty-four-by-seven basis.
The SchlumbergerSema Solution will be installed and managed locally by Integrated Access Systems, which will assist Los Angeles County in the upgrade of their technology to offer a more convenient means of payment for the public while decreasing operating costs. The DGLine solar power feature cuts down on installation costs and eliminates the requirement for an electrical power source at the county’s remote lots. The wireless communication with Parkfolio management system monitors terminals in remote areas eliminating the need for lot attendants and manual revenue collection.
“By upgrading their off-street parking system with a cost-effective, secure and user-friendly solution, the County of Los Angeles, Department of Beaches and Harbors is at the forefront among its peers nationwide,” stated Paul Beverly, vice president, Smart Cards and e-Transactions, SchlumbergerSema North America. “The deployment of the Parkfolio management system further demonstrates LA County’s willingness to use leading-edge technology to enhance the efficiency of the Department.”
