Visa International announced an agreement with AIG International Services Inc., a member company of American International Group, Inc., to offer travel assistance benefits to Visa Business cardholders.
AIG International Services will offer over 20 million Visa Business cardholders a promotional discount for its International Assistance Membership program, which provides access to a broad range of emergency travel and medical assistance services worldwide for both business and leisure travel.
“The need to protect the health and safety of global travelers is a greater concern than ever before,” said Glen Davidson, Senior Vice President, Global Travel Services of AIG International Services. “As a leader in providing travel and relocation support services, AIG International Services is pleased to work with Visa International to provide such an important benefit. We anticipate that the relationship will bring significant added value to Visa Business cardholders.”
The Visa Business card is used by small business owners as a purchasing and expense management tool. The card offers business owners greater control over cash flow and a way to track and control procurement, travel and entertainment expenses.
“Visa is dedicated to providing the greatest value and cost savings to small businesses,” said Aliza Knox, Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Solutions for Visa International, who made the announcement at the Visa Small Business Forum in San Francisco. “Small businesses are often underserved, yet worldwide represent the majority of companies and drive tremendous transaction volumes. This offer from AIG International Services, exclusively for Visa Business cardholders, is a great example of how we can help entrepreneurs manage their risks and finances more cost effectively.”
The International Assistance Membership program provides a wide array of flexible benefits, including:(1)
— A 24-hour, 7-day a week multilingual help line for assistance with travel documentation, lost/stolen personal effects, currency exchange and ATM locations, cash transfers, immunizations, political/environmental warnings, vehicle return, translations and legal referrals;
— Medical evacuation benefits, including travel expenses, up to $100,000;
— Repatriation of remains, including handling of logistics and payment up to $20,000 for embalming/cremation, coffin and transportation expenses;
— Insurance/Claims coordination — In the event of an emergency, AIG International Services will coordinate claims issues between a member’s insurance carrier and the medical services provider;
— Emergency trip interruption assistance, including arrangement and prepayment of overnight hotel accommodations, alternate transportation and meals.
The AIG International Services offer to Visa Business cardholders is the result of a strategic relationship agreement that AIG and Visa recently signed. Visa Executive Vice President for Global Marketing Partnerships and Sponsorships, Tom Shepard, said: “The combination of the world’s leading international insurance organization and the world’s leading payment brand will benefit Visa cardholders and Visa member banks worldwide.”
