Wincor Nixdorf International says it’s preparing for growth in Asia with
the opening an enlarged production facility and software competence
center near Shanghai, China.
“This expansion of our production capacities in China reflects not only
our success in this country to date but also our expectations for future
business,” said Wincor president and chief executive Eckard Heidloff.
The new facility is expected to be 15,000 square meters in size, 10,000
square meters larger than the company’s current Chinese facility.
The Shanghai factory manufactures banking and retail products.
“In order to introduce our innovations to the Chinese market more
rapidly and flexibly, and to respond to local demand better, we have
also expanded our software competence center,” Heidloff said.
The solution center is part of Wincor’s worldwide software-development
network. It enhances capacities for integrating and adapting
international software in Asia. Heidloff said the center in China is
“pivotal” to the expansion of the region’s solution business. “Our
objective is to vastly expand our market position in Asia over the
coming years,” he said.
According to a news release, approximately 400 people are now employed
at Wincor Nixdorf China, and approximately 1,500 of the company’s 8,000
employees are based in Asia.
