Italian soccer club A.C. Milan has launched a
new credit card together with Gruppo Linea, an Italian
finance company specializing in consumer credit. Now, fans can show off
their club’s colors and badge on a new MasterCard credit card: the
“CartaViva Milan”. The card is being exclusively produced and
distributed by Giesecke & Devrient, the world’s second largest
smart card maker. Tens of thousands of the cards are expected to be
issued this year to fans who bank with Gruppo Linea, while a numbered,
limited-edition card is in the works for the players and club managers.
Some time in the next few months the card is to be outfitted with a chip
like most of the other credit cards from Gruppo Linea. At that time it
will be fully compliant with the EMV standard.
“CartaViva Milan is an exclusive financial product dedicated to all AC
Milan supporters. This initiative confirms the direction of our Club to
involve more and more our supporters and to share with them our Club
’emotion’. Thanks to this credit card, red and black team supporters can
show their strong sense of belonging to the Club every single day. The
‘Viva Milan’ revolving credit card aims at offering a unique opportunity
to its owners: in fact, a specific loyalty program has been realized.
It’s a modern and exclusive product that will be able to meet our
supporters’ needs”, said Adriano Galliani, Vice President of A.C. Milan.
The CartaViva Milan is more than a regular credit card; it lets fans
reap the benefits of A.C. Milan’s loyalty program, which is only open to
cardholders. Every month, CartaViva Milan users are entered to win
exciting fan prizes-from tickets for club matches to jerseys autographed
by the players to tours of the Milan stadium and the Milanello Sports
Center. In fan shops, cardholders profit from special discounts. And
once they enroll in the CartaViva bonus program, fans can even earn
points based on their team’s performance: Their accounts get credited
one bonus point for each game A.C. Milan wins and one additional point
for each cup.
“The CartaViva series, Gruppo Linea’s solution for individual credit
card designs, has met with a lot of interest in Italy for some time now.
It’s not often that you get to do something like the A.C. Milan design
for a huge fan community, so we were delighted by the opportunity to
complete this project for the soccer club,” noted Valentino Ghelli, CEO
of Gruppo Linea.
