National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) was recently awarded more than $46,000 raised by Irving-based ACE Cash Express, Inc. and Austin-based NetSpend Corporation, as part of the companies’ October 2006 commitment to donate a portion of every purchase of the pink All-AccessÂ® VisaÂ® Prepaid Card. NetSpend is the nation’s leading marketer and processor of prepaid cards and ACE Cash Express, a leading retailer of financial services, offers the cards through its retail outlets.
Representatives from the two companies presented the check to NBCF April 23, 2007, on the campus of White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, one of the many medical centers where NBCF funds programs to provide educational materials and free mammograms to local women who cannot otherwise afford the procedure.
“We are grateful to ACE Cash Express, NetSpend and the many individuals who enthusiastically support our mission by using this pink prepaid Visa card,” said Janelle Hail, founder and president of NBCF who is also 26-year breast cancer survivor. “We are putting these funds to work educating women about breast cancer and providing free mammograms. We hope this campaign will help the public understand that when breast cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is 96 percent. Early detection is key.”
