In its endeavor to provide the best value proposition to its customers,
SBI Card, the second largest and fastest growing card issuer of the
country has launched, ‘Fuel Freedom’, a special feature which now
enables all SBI Card holders to enjoy Zero% surcharge on purchase
of fuel across any petrol pump in any city. Through this initiative SBI
Cardholders will be among the few privileged card holders who will no
longer be required to pay the 2.5 % surcharge that is normally charged
by all petrol pumps which accept credit cards for purchase of fuel.
This new feature comes on the back of a program launched by SBI Card in
2002 called “FILL-IT-UP” (FIU), wherein its cardholders could enjoy the
2.5% surcharge waiver across IOC and IBP
petrol pumps only. As a result of this program, the company saw spends
on credit cards for purchase of fuel double in the last 3 years.
Encouraged by the results and driven by customer needs, SBI Card has
decided to launch Fuel Freedom, which would now allow all SBI Card
holders to avail Zero% surcharge across any petrol pump, any city, for
all transactions between Rs 400 and Rs 3000.
Announcing this initiative, Mr. Roopam Asthana CEO, SBI Card, said, “We
are always looking at ways to enhance the Value for SBI Card customer,
and it is my pleasure to introduce this initiative. SBI Card is today
the second largest and fastest growing credit card in the country and
with such innovative offerings, we are confident of reaching new
milestones.”
Currently, SBI Card has more than 3.50 mn cardholders in its portfolio
and presence in more than 113 cities.
