Hypercom Corporation has announced that the three smart card-based
32-bit multi-application electronic payment terminals in its new Optimum

The T4200 platform has also received PCI PED approval for secure PIN

merchant markets. The platform also complies with the European Union’s
RoHS requirements for hazardous substances.
“Interac Association Chip PED Device Certification together with the

The Optimum T4200 family consists of six 32-bit multi-application
terminals with a consistent “look and feel” and 19-key keypad layout.
The series includes three EMV and three non-EMV models; with dial only,
Ethernet/SSL/dial backup, and wireless GSM/GPRS/dial backup connectivity
available in each category.
AT just 8 1/4″ long, 3 1/2″ wide and 2 1/2″ high, the T4200 devices are
among the smallest in their class, conserving counter space, and offer
an easy “hand-over” form factor for regions that require this
capability. All six models incorporate a crisp 160 x 80 pixel monochrome
display that exceeds the resolution of competitive units, come standard
with 24MB of memory (four to eight times larger than similar products),
and can quickly and efficiently process debit, credit, smart card and
value-added transactions such as gift/loyalty and dynamic currency
The new terminals join a full array of high-performance Optimum
countertop, multi-lane, wireless and portable terminals that have been
adopted by leading banks, retailers and independent sales organizations
around the world since Hypercom introduced its first 32-bit Optimum
product in 2004.
