Quepasa Corporation, creator of Quepasa.com Latino social network, has partnered with Hi-media Payments micropayments business unit of Paris-based Hi-media Group. With this, Quepasa plans to bring Hi-media’s “Allopass” micropayments platform to Quepasa.com to help monetize its growing library of social games and premium content offerings. The Allopass micropayments solution currently processes more than eight million transactions per month, making it the largest and most popular micropayment platform in Europe and Latin America. The company has established key partnerships across the virtual goods ecosystem and is set to unveil several new integrations over the next year.

VeriFone Holdings has acquired the
remaining minority interest in VeriFone Transportation Systems and
aligned all operations within its Integrated Systems
organization. The former CEO of VTS has been named senior VP,
Taxi Systems.VTS was formed as a joint venture with TaxiTronic in 2005
to equip taxis with integrated fleet management and
customer payment systems. Acquiring the remaining minority interest in
VTS allows VeriFone to further drive adoption of the payment
systems within the transportation segment, particularly in international
markets. The Integrated Solutions organization will advance VeriFoneâs
development and implementation of integrated solutions for
transportation and a strategy of driving payment solutions and
transactions as well as advertising sales by the recently formed
VeriFone Media Solutions group.
BB&T Corporation has signed a multi-year agreement for Online Resources Corporation’s biller-direct electronic payment solution. BB&T will implement Online Resourcesâ service fee payments in the second quarter, allowing live agents to accept consumer loan payments over the phone. Online Resources will also provide customer data collection and validation; fee and payment processing; interchange management and settlement; and real-time, on-demand reporting, tracking and management through an online client console. Online Resources powers financial interactions between millions of consumers and the companyâs financial institution and biller clients, including 12 of the top 13 U.S. retail banks and 13 of the top 20 U.S. card issuers.
Erste Bank Hungary, has enlisted Diebold to implement payment solutions for utility bills through its ATMs. For many OCR payments, a proof of payment is required. The Transaction amount, identification and other information are printed in the bottom part of the utility bill with OCR characters. Thanks to Diebold’s bulk-deposit Intelligent Deposit Module (IDMbd) technology, Diebold OptevaÂ® ATMs can process these images, convert them to Hungarian Post-compatible format, copy transaction data and stamp images to the bill, forward it to the host, and print a copy of customer portion of the bill with the receipt printer. The initial phase of the project entails Erste Bank to pilot the bill payment service on 12 Diebold Opteva ATMs equipped with IDMbd and Diebold AgilisÂ® multi-vendor software application.

RI-based Citizens Bank and Charter One customers have opened
more than 15,000 CollegeSaver accounts since the bank introduced the
product last April. CollegeSaver enables customers to earn a $1,000 bonus plus interest for
opening an account by the sixth birthday of their child, grandchild or
loved one and saving a minimum of $25 per month until the child is 18.
Customers receive the $1,000 bonus plus all the accrued interest when
the child turns 18. Customers who start saving $100 per month when their child is 6 will
accumulate about $15,800, including the $1,000 bonus and interest earned
when their child turns 18. Customers who start saving $100 per month
when their child is born will have approximately $23,500 â a difference
of about $7,700. It is available to new and existing customers, and
insured by the FDIC up to the legal limit.
