Bank of the West Selects ClairMail mBanking

SF-based Bank of the West has selected ClairMail mobile banking and payment solutions to power its mobile banking service. The Bank’s decision was based on knowledge of ClairMail’s industry expertise, approach and mbanking platform. The mobile platform will give Bank of the West the flexibility to connect to multiple financial systems and future-proof their mobile powered offerings. The ClairMail mobile banking solution will enable Bank of the West customers to access their accounts via mobile web, SMS, and a client application on virtually any mobile device including the iPhone, empowering them with greater control over their personal finances.

Bostonians More Upbeat About Economy Than National Pop

Boston residentsâ outlook on the future has declined from nine months ago yet they remain more upbeat about the economy than Americans nationally, with 61% seeing local business conditions getting somewhat or much better in the next 12 months. This is much more hopeful than the 53 of adults nationally whom believe local business conditions will improve. This, according to Citi, also shows 54% of Bostonians think the economy has yet to hit bottom, compared to 62% nationally. Additional findings show 64% of Boston residents are somewhat or very optimistic that their own financial situation will get better over the next 12 months, a four point decline since September; 56% of Bostonians believe it will be at least two or three years, if not longer, before the economy stabilizes for their household; 34% of Bostonians are very uncomfortable with their level of debt, an increase of 6 points since September 2009, compared with 33% of the national population; and 24% of Bostonians have at least one area of debt that constitutes a major or unmanageable problem.

PAR QSR POS Software Live at Carl’s

The ParTech (PAR) “EverServ” QSR point-of-sale (POS) software has been successfully implemented at two significantly different quick service restaurant locations. This demonstrates the flexibility and scalability of the solution. PAR launch partner S.L. Investments (CKE Franchisee) has implemented EverServ QSR in its Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada and plans to roll out the solution to 37 of its Carl’s Jr. restaurants by the end of 2010. SIP Coffee House, a single unit operator of a European style coffee house in San Antonio, Texas, has also successfully deployed the EverServ QSR solution.

Wells Fargo mBanking Awarded by Juniper

Wells Fargo Mobile offers secure mobile banking which enables consumer and small business customers to access to their Wells Fargo accounts via three easy ways including text messaging (shortcode 93557), mobile website (wf.com), and downloadable applications for four of today’s most popular smartphones and platforms. Customers may access wf.com through Androidâ¢, BlackBerryÂ®, iPhone and iPod touch, and Palm mobile banking applications (“apps”) to quickly check their accounts, pay bills, transfer funds between accounts or to another customer, and find the nearest Wells Fargo ATMs. Wells Fargo also pioneered text enrollment for mobile banking, enabling customers to sign up for text banking directly from their mobile phones, whether or not they bank online.

Western Union and CCH Launch Prepaid MasterCard

Western Union has partnered with CCH Small Firm Services (SFS) tax and accounting professionals to make available the “MoneyWise” MasterCard, providing income tax refunds on a reloadable prepaid debit card. The partnership will allow the nearly 200,000 tax professionals who use “TaxWise” and “ATX” SFS tax software programs, used to prepare more than 20 million tax returns annually, to provide their clients the convenient refund method. The “MoneyWise” Prepaid MasterCard also allows users to direct deposit paychecks onto the card; allows the user to reload money in-person at any of the over 46,000 participating Western Union Agent locations in the U.S.; load a Western Union Money Transfer transaction directly to the card; and add funds online using a bank account. The card can be used anywhere MasterCard Debit is accepted and is protected by MasterCard’s zero liability policy.

Visa Provides Guidance on Data Security

The best practices developed by Visa in collaboration with the SANS Institute are designed to complement the PCI Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) security requirements for software vendors. PA-DSS compliant applications do not store prohibited data such as track data, sensitive authentication data, or PIN data, helping guard merchants and agents against compromises and support overall compliance with the PCI DSS. The SANS Institute is also partnering with Visa to provide further guidance to payment application vendors, integrators and resellers on how to securely implement point-of-sale solutions through a series of training courses. Visa’s Top Ten Best Practices for Payment Application Companies perform background checks on new employees and contractors prior to hire; maintain software security training and certification curriculum; conduct application vulnerability detection; actively identify payment application versions; and adhere to industry guidelines for data field encryption and tokenization across payment applications that use these technologies.

U.S. Bank Credit Wellness Launches Interactive Website

iPhone App Available for Hillcrest Bank hmBanking

Nationally, 30% of smart phone users check their bank balances via their mobile phone, 25% regularly check their credit card transactions via their smart phones and 25% of mobile phones are smart phones. In response, Hillcrest Bank hmbanking has made available its iPhone app, allowing users to conduct online banking transactions. The free app from the iTunes store also lets customers see account balances and transaction history, receive and view account alerts, transfer money between accounts and pay bills. hMobile is free to Hillcrest Bank hNet online banking customers and allows access to checking, savings, CD or money market accounts. Information and transactions are securely transmitted via 128-bit SSL encryption technology.

Dynamic Card Solutions Signs 550th Customer

DCS is working with American Eagle Federal Credit Union to implement a program that instantly issues unembossed Visa debit cards at the branch level. Looking to eliminate the wait time for members to receive a card in the mail, the Connecticut-based credit union will be implementing DCS’ CardWizard instant issue software and its FCP 20/20 flat card printers to instantly issue and activate a personalized debit card that can be used immediately when the member leaves the branch.

Radiant Processing Software to Serve EverBank Field

Radiant Systems has signed agreements with the NFLâs Jacksonville Jaguars to implement its “Quest Venue Management” software and hardware in the concession stands and restaurants of EverBank Field. With this, Radiant will also deploy its “CounterPoint” POS for retail operations throughout the Stadium. EverBank Field will implement Radiantâs “Quest POS” software and hardware, including the wireless POS solution, within its standard and premium concessions and its three restaurants before the start of regular 2010-11 season play. The Team will also deploy the Radiant “P1515” and “P1560” wireless terminals running “CounterPoint” retail POS software within its retail and souvenir operations.

Bank of the West has introduced its free-of-charge mbanking platform through nearly any mobile device, including a dedicated iPhone app available next month. This allows customers to receive account alerts through text messages, perform transfers between accounts, and check account balances while on the go. Using texting, registered customers can send simple text commands, for example to request their account balances. The CA-based $61 billion-asset Bank of the West offers a full range of business, corporate, personal, trust and international banking services through more than 700 branch and commercial banking locations in 19 Western and Midwestern states.
