Obopay & Star Launch Real Time mTransfer Solution

Obopay mobile money solutions has forged agreements with the STAR Network through which Obopay will incorporate the STAR “Expedited Transfer Service” real-time transfers. Allowing instant tranfers between STAR accounts, the STAR “Expedited Transfer Service” places the demand deposit account at the center of the transaction and offers transaction speeds not possible with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers. This ultimately allows banks to offer a fast, secure and convenient way for their customers and members to send and receive money using their mobile phones. STAR member financial institutions are eligible to offer their customers the ability to initiate both outbound and inbound Expedited Transfer transactions, so STAR cardholders can send funds to their own or other people’s STAR accounts as well as pull money from their STAR cards into another account. STAR is a First Data company and a leading debit network.

Chase Image Scanning Speeds Komen Registration

JPMorgan Chase is helping the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northeast Ohio Affiliate streamline its registration and check collection process at this Saturdayâs Race for the Cure with its “Image Deposit Direct” solution. Allowing for quick scanning and deposit of hundreds of checks directly to the Komen bank account, “Image Deposit Direct” has supported these operations for two years. It also allows clients to deposit checks and money orders from their place of business by scanning them into images and transmitting the images to Chase for clearing. Clients can make deposits to their Chase account from any location and import detailed deposit activity reports into their accounts receivable system. Scanned check and remittance information images are stored in Chaseâs secure image archive and made available for up to 25 months.

eBay Wins Shareholder Dispute with Craigslist

In Delaware Court of Chancery, eBay has been ruled in favor of regarding a shareholder suit filed against Craigslist and its majority shareholders. This overturns a series of unlawful transactions undertaken by Craigslistâs majority shareholders to dilute eBayâs minority share in the company and rescinds a poison pill and right of first refusal adopted by the controlling shareholders in January 2008 and restores eBayâs 28.4 percent share in Craigslist. eBay brought this suit to protect its own shareholders and preserve its valuable investment in Craigslist. This concludes intentions by the Craigslist majority shareholders were to unfairly benefit themselves at the expense of eBay.

Lecere Announces SaaS Pricing Model for FIRMS

Lecere Software released its pricing model for its SaaS application for its restaurant POS. Its “FIRMS” is an example of modern software as a service, protecting both the application software and data, securely hosted and managed for in the cloud on Internet-based servers which are at major commercial data centers. You have no back-office computers to buy or manage. This graph illustrates how each month’s fees for FIRMS are calculated, with a sliding scale of rates that start at 1% of the month’s net sales (gross sales less taxes and tips) and drop to as little as 0.3% as net sales increase. For example, dues of $194 for a cafe with net sales of $20,000 that month or $439 for a pub or wine bar with net sales of $50,000 that month.

DataArt Builds Plastyc mBanking and Payments Platform

Amazon Payments Lets Users Checkout on Merchant Sites

Amazon Payments has launched its next generation of “Checkout by Amazon” (CBA), allowing account holders to make purchases on a merchant’s site using their Amazon.com account credentials without leaving said site. This allows them to access their Amazon address book and payment methods directly on a merchant’s site, translating to fewer steps for checkout, thus reducing the potential for shopping cart abandonment for merchants. CBA’s tighter integration with merchant sites also means a substantial reduction in implementation time thanks in part to the mitigation of redirection, in which consumers leave a merchant’s site right after clicking the checkout button. With “Checkout by Amazon,” designed based on feedback from merchants, customers are given the convenience of using their account information with a more streamlined buying experience. E-commerce platform provider Demandware is enabling integration with Checkout by Amazon.
