Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) has commissioned Gemalto to deliver U.S issued globally compliant EMV chip payment cards for their entire cardholder base to give their clients the security and convenience of payment cards based on the Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) standard. Gemalto also provides consulting on EMV migration, personalization, and delivery of the cards to the end-user. Migrating to new EMV chip payment cards will enable SVB to fully address a growing concern for U.S. cardholders and offer them global card acceptance. Gemalto will provide SVB MasterCard World Elite portfolios full card design and production, secure data management and personalization of the upgraded cards and ensuring global acceptance and forward compatibility for both online and offline EMV payment transactions.
BankAtlantic is set to launch its newest Mobile Banking Application (“App”) for Android platform phones. Offering users one-touch access to banking information, the new app is the culmination to provide value and convenience to help users manage finances while on-the-go. This latest Application will offer Android phone customers the same free, fast, safe and secure mobile banking medium as iPhone users, allowing them to view account balances and transaction history; to transfer funds between accounts; and automatically locate the nearest BankAtlantic branch or ATM location.
A Diebold ATM is being featured in a unique artistic creation by artists Allora and Calzadilla in the U.S. Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy. Allora and Calzadilla, well-known artists and innovative interpreters of contemporary art, were asked by the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) to showcase the best of American art at the Biennale di Venezia. The artistic creation, which is on display through Nov. 27, 2011, incorporates an ATM that issues cash with musical accompaniment. The initiative involves prominent partners like Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, part of the Banque Nationale de Paris and Paribas Group (BNL-BNPP), and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, which manages the U.S. Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia.
Revel Systems iPad and cloud-based POS systems has closed a $3.7 million round of funding led by DCM venture capital firm, coinciding with Jason Krikorian, DCM General Partner, having joined its Board of Directors. The additional capital will be used to expand sales and marketing, roll out new products, grow its tech sales and support network and further develop its customer base across the United States. The system is among the only POS systems that is fully PCI-compliant, including its hardware, software, and network.
Fundtech global transaction solutions for banks and corporates has partnered with WebExpenses for managing business travel and entertainment expenses. Fundtech’s branded version called “Online Expenses” will be offered to its current customer base of more than 2,000 direct corporate clients, as well as future customers. Pre-paid is primed for explosive growth in the coming year, given 50% of payment industry professionals surveyed expect wider adoption of pre-paid cards as more consumers move away from credit cards and cash. Nearly 30% of respondents said that more consumers will deposit more money to their pre-paid accounts, with $37 billion loaded onto prepaid cards last year, compared to only $18 billion in 2009 and $9 billion in 2008. These findings, according to a survey conducted by Firstsource Solutions at the Card Forum & Expo, also disclosed over 40% indicated that increased scrutiny from regulators regarding loading and set-up fees will pose the greatest risk to the industry. Also concluded was 66% said that social media platforms have played a critical role in enhancing the customer experience; 75% agreed social media will be a significant factor in customer service in the future; and nearly 35% said their organizations use Twitter to connect with customers.
