October U.S. consumer bankruptcy filings totaled 106,255 nationwide, down 19.6% from the 132,173 total consumer filings recorded in the year ago period. This, according to the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), shows consumer filings also represented a 2% decrease from the 108,517 filings in September. James A. Bell has been elected to the Chase Board of Directors. Mr. Bell is Corporate President, Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Vice President of The Boeing Company, the world’s largest aerospace company and has also been appointed to the Audit Committee of JPMorgan Chase’s Board. Bell oversees two key Boeing businesses, Boeing Capital Corporation, the company’s customer-financing subsidiary, and Boeing Shared Services, an 8,000-person multi-billion-dollar business unit that provides common internal services across Boeing’s global enterprise.

U.S. Bank implemented Secure Vault Payments (SVP) with FamilySearch Internationa for online donations. With this, FamilySearch customers can choose Secure Vault Payments to make an online donation using a consumer online bank account at U.S. Bank or at any Secure Vault Payments-enabled financial institution. They are automatically redirected to their own participating financial institution’s online banking platform to confirm their balance and select the account they wish to use for payment. They are then returned to FamilySearch.org, where they receive payment confirmation. Secure Vault Payments was developed by NACHA ” The Electronic Payments Association.

Having expanded its Gap “Mobile4U” program, to deliver offers and promotions for Banana Republic (BR mobile 4U), and Old Navy (Old Navy 4U), the Company delivers personalized offers triggered in real time. Customers who opt into the service will receive tailored discounts and promotions via SMS text messages when qualifying transactions are made with enrolled Visa accounts. Customers can then redeem their special offers by presenting the text message at select Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy stores nationwide.
The Citi Team USA Flag Tour made its third stop in Tucson, where athletes spoke to a crowd of more than 250 people and highlighted the importance of the network of support they received from family, friends and the community as part of their own personal Olympic journeys. The event was capped off by a ceremony to raise the Citi Team USA flag on the Citi Tucson campus which will remain up through the London 2012 Olympic Games. The tour has stopped in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Irving, Texas, and will head to Jacksonville, Florida in December.
