NCR Corporation posted 1Q/12 revenue of $1.24 billion, up 18% from the year ago period while income from continuing operations totaled $38 million compared to the year ago period of $19 million. This included $39 million in pension expense.
NCR’s Financial Services segment generated a revenue of $694 million, up 17% year-over-year, thanks in great part to growth in the Americas and Asia Middle East Africa (AMEA) but was negatively impacted by 2 percentage points of foreign currency translation. The Retail Solutions segment generated revenue of $347 million in the first quarter of 2012, a decrease of 9 percent from the first quarter of 2011 while the NCR Hospitality segment generated revenue of $113 million in the first quarter of 2012 thanks mostly to American service revenue.
Also throughout the quarter, NCR continued the introduction and deployment of its self-service solutions across its core and emerging industries while continuing to expand its global services business, namely with Cardtronics retail ATMs. Cardtronics deployed a significant fleet of the NCR “SelfServ” ATM (SelfServ 14), boasting a cash dispenser offering high availability while taking up just 0.27 square meters of floor space.
