The Western Union Company global payment services announced more than 15,000 billers are now in its U.S. walk-in payments service network. The Western Union biller network provides consumers the ability to make utility, mortgage, auto loan, credit card and insurance bill payments at over 45,000 Western Union® Agent locations. Instead of relying on traditional mail service or the Internet, customers would rather visit a location near their home or place of work where they can make a payment and instantly receive a receipt showing that they have paid.
Capitec Bank is deploying Diebold ATMs to deliver advanced functionality, enhanced security and convenience to its consumers. The agreement includes Opteva® 328 ATMs which feature cash recycling technology, allowing users to perform advanced transactions using notes, coins and checks, as well as perform all standard ATM functions in a single machine. Diebold’s cash recycling ATMs automate note and coin validation, improving transaction flow and security. Migrating transactions from the teller line to the self-service channel makes money management more convenient for the user, while also allowing Capitec’s tellers to focus their time on providing value-added services to consumers.
American Express chose FIS’ InstantFunds Mobile technology to provide mobile-driven remote check capture for Bluebird accounts. FIS InstantFunds Mobile enables consumers to use their smartphones to scan a check and add funds into their account, thus limiting fraud by leveraging FIS’ analytics and payment guaranty technologies.

This allows American Eagle FCU immediately expands surcharge-free cash access for its members by 50,000 ATMs worldwide. With Allpoint Network offers 38,000 cash machines and save members of American Eagle FCU time as well as ATM fees. Allpoint’s suite of free, on-demand ATM locator tools make Allpoint surcharge-free ATMs easy for American Eagle FCU members to find. Allpoint offers free smartphone apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry operating systems, as well as a mobile browser-friendly ATM locator website.
Fifth Third Bank recently launched Access 360o reloadable prepaid card offering customers financial control, convenience and security. The card is available through any of Fifth Third’s 1,300 banking center locations. There is no charge to load money to the card and customers may do so through deposits at a Fifth Third banking center, direct deposit of paychecks or government benefits, or fund transfers from a Fifth Third Bank checking or savings account. The card can be used anywhere Debit MasterCard® is accepted, and customers may withdraw cash at any banking center or more than 2,400 Fifth Third Bank ATMs.

The first ATM installed in Myanmar became the first to accept an international payments MasterCard. This after the September announcement MasterCard Worldwide is to be the first international payments network to issue a license to a Myanmar bank, paving the way for branded cards to be issued and accepted in the country for the first time. Tourists and business travelers with an international MasterCard, Maestro or Cirrus-branded card will now be able to withdraw money, and in the local currency.
