USA Technologies announced details of its “MORE” ePort Connect loyalty and prepaid program. USAT customers will be able to offer rewards and discount offers for products purchased at their cashless-enabled locations to build loyalty, repeat business and a greater understanding of their consumers’ purchasing preferences. “MORE.,” offered as an enhancement to USAT’s comprehensive ePort Connect® service, is a byproduct of USAT’s ongoing commitment to drive additional value for customers through every connection to its ePort Connect service. “MORE.” enables USAT’s customers to offer either a standard or customized reloadable card, giving their customers access to more rewards, more exclusive offers and promotions and more discounts for future purchases at participating self-service machines.
Trustwave and Transaction Network Services have joined forces to offer an open and vendor agnostic point-to-point encryption service designed to help merchants protect their customers’ payment card information. TNS will host Trustwave Point-to-Point Encryption technology in its network and data centers enabling TNS to take encrypted transactions from merchants, decrypt those transactions, and securely send transaction data to one or more of a merchant’s payment processors or acquirers. The joint service will be an open platform that will interoperate with point-of-sale technologies and integrate with various payment processors.
Cardlytics Card-Linked Marketing announced the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent for Cardlytics’ unique technology, covering their core systems – the Cardlytics Offer Placement System (OPS) and Offer Management System (OMS). U.S. Patent # 8,515,810 enables Cardlytics to create targeted marketing based on consumer purchase behavior, and place advertising through online banking portals. Cardlytics developed its distributed architecture in order to create purchase-targeted marketing campaigns, while protecting consumer privacy.

Mercury Payment Systems payment solutions providers announced a collaboration with PayPal to enable Mercury’s vast network of point-of-sale software developers and value-added resellers, and rapidly growing base of 80,000 merchants to offer PayPal in-store. This agreement brings PayPal together with a proven leader in delivering integrated payments solutions to countertops across America to give merchants a simple, and seamless way to use PayPal in-store. Through this collaboration, Mercury’s network of more than 500 point-of-sale developers will be provided a toolkit to enhance their POS system to accept PayPal’s in-store payments. Resellers of those systems will also be trained and certified to bundle PayPal acceptance with other merchant services that they already offer. Merchants using PayPal-enhanced POS systems enable PayPal customers to pay with their desired funding source in their PayPal wallet using their PayPal payment card or their mobile phone via the PayPal app.
The Republic of Kosovo has chosen Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to manufacture and deliver its multifunctional, electronic, and entirely contactless smart ID cards. As prime contractor, the Munich-based technology company is assuming responsibility for all aspects of project management as well as for system development and manufacture of the cards. Sub-contractor for the Automated Fingerprint Inspection System (AFIS) and for the smartcard personalization machinery is Berlin-based Bundesdruckerei GmbH. G&D is also in charge of implementing and structuring all system components necessary to support every step in the ID documentation process, from applying for a card to delivering it. These new ID cards, which the Republic of Kosovo will begin issuing to its citizens by the end of this year, are among the most up-to-date smart ID cards in use anywhere in the world.
