The number of Cards-In-Force (CIF) for the four major U.S. payment card networks rose 4.6% year-on-year (Y/Y) during the first quarter of 2014 (Q1/14). Visa (VS), MasterCard (MC), American Express (AX) and Discover (DS) reported 1173 million U.S. CIF at the end of Q1/14, compared to 1121 million one year ago.
InComm today announced the launch of InComm Mobile Platform (IMP) for mobile wallet providers and merchants. IMP integrates with multiple platforms to provide a full-breadth of capabilities required to process mobile payments made using prepaid cards at retail POS. mopay announced its entry into the Indian market with an HTML5 in-app billing solution. The company brings its latest technology to the Indian market where staggering growth rates indicate that the number of Internet-enabled mobile devices will have exceeded the US by the end of 2014. mopay is launching the HTML5-for-mobile version of its award -winning direct carrier billing platform on all large Indian carriers to give its subscribers of mobile Internet devices the same frictionless payment experience as in Europe and the United States. NCR Corporation announced that Cathay United Bank (“CUB”) has become the first bank in Taiwan to provide personalized automated teller machine (“ATM”) transactions by using NCR APTRA Connections software. CUB is the fourth largest ATM deployer in Taiwan with more than 1,900 ATMs. APTRA Connections is now running on about 180 units of NCR SelfServ ATMs and 120 units from another vendor. Most of these ATMs are installed at busy locations. CUB is also planning to extend the new features to its entire ATM network gradually. APTRA Connections enables CUB to recognize their customers and display personalized greeting message. CUB customers can customize their ATM menu by pre-selecting favorite transaction options that include their usual cash withdrawal amount, bill payment and bank transfers, resulting in fewer screens to navigate and save time – as much as 33 percent faster than a typical transaction.
