Prepaid payment card distribution is hitting high hurdles. A new report suggests many companies are at risk of displacement if they do not respond accordingly to the mobile, online, and virtual technologies threat.
A new report highlights three companies that have positioned themselves to respond to these changing dynamics, and their decisions over the last three years are organized into separate categories, including entering new businesses, updating existing lines of business, and developing new technologies. How they achieved these goals is broken down in a new Mercator report into various strategies that can be implemented across a variety of business types.
The new report focuses on Blackhawk Network Holdings, epay (a division of Euronet Worldwide Inc.), and InComm.
Mercator says the companies that have been largely dependent on plastic cards have found ways to prepare for a digital future.
