First Data’s European Merchant Services (EMS) business has signed a deal with JCB International (JCBI) to expand JCB merchant acquiring operations across the Netherlands. EMS holds acquiring licenses for all major debit and credit card brands and is a major European payments player.
JCBI has been continuously increasing its presence in Europe this year by expanding its merchant network. Currently, card members can pay with JCB card at about 26 million merchants worldwide including several million in Europe. The Netherlands is a strategically important country for JCBI as this is a major destination market for European JCB card members. JCBI has been doing business in Europe for 32 years.
EMS offers merchants on location and e-merchants an all-in-one solution for the processing of domestic and foreign transactions with the major credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay, JCB, Maestro, Diners Club & Discover, V PAY, Visa Electron. The Company’s transactions are processed via the Omnipay platform.
So far in 2014, JCBI signed easyCash GmbH (easyCash), an Ingenico Group company, to start JCB merchant acquiring operations in Germany and will soon begin acquiring in several additional European countries via easyCash. Also, merchant acquiring operations were started with ACLEDA Bank Plc., one of the major commercial banks in Cambodia. With this launch, JCB cards will be accepted at over 650 locations throughout Cambodia
In May, JCBI formally signed a License Agreement with Atos’ Worldline for building a JCB card acceptance network and to start JCB merchant acquiring operations in Belgium.
