The Top 5 U.S. Visa and MasterCard credit card issuers had a 64% 2014 marketshare based on U.S. Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV). Credit card king, Chase, captured 25.5% of the U.S. bank credit card market last year, more than double its closest competitor BofA.
The Top 5 Visa and MasterCard generated $1160 billion in U.S. bank credit card purchase volume for full year 2014. Issuers ranked between #6 and #10 produced $352 billion in U.S. PDV, while issuers between #11 and #50 processed $267 billion in U.S. Visa and MasterCard PDV, according to CardData.
The total U.S. Visa and MasterCard U.S. credit card PDV market of $1820 billion, rose nearly 11% last year. Visa’s 2014 U.S. credit card PDV increased 12.4% while MasterCard’s PDV rose 8.4%.
