Visa’s (VS) Asia Pacific (AP) region Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) growth slowed down year-on-year (YOY) to 10.6%, on a local currency basis, in the fourth quarter (Q4/14) to US$359 billion, compared to a 14.4% YOY growth rate in Q4/13.
Based on PDV, the VS AP region remains the third fastest growing region, outside the CEMEA or LAC regions, according to CardData.
VS AP Gross Dollar Volume (GDV) was up 7.9%, on a local currency basis, to U.S. $510 billion in Q4/14, compared to US$506 billion in Q3/14 and US$493 billion in Q4/13. On a U.S. dollar basis GDV was up 3.5% YOY.
VS AP Cash Dollar Volume (CDV) increased 1.8%, on a local currency basis in Q4/14 to US$151 billion. The total number of Cash Transactions (CTX) rose to 973 million, compared to 910 million one-year ago.
VS has an estimated 794 million cards-in-force (CIF) currently in the AP region, compared to 721 million in Q4/13. The total number of accounts rose to an estimated 696 million in Q4/14, compared to 622 million for Q4/13. (As of January 1, 2014 VS updates cards and accounts on a one-quarter lag basis)
RAM Research projects VS AP PDV will contract to US$348 billion in the first quarter.
