First Data will support its clients’ integration of Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay, when it launches in the UK next month.
Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When a customer adds a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device and each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.
The arrival of Apple Pay in the U.K. will also present a significant opportunity for merchants of all sizes to grow their businesses. First Data provides a range of contactless terminal options that are ready to accept Apple Pay including Clover™ Station, a comprehensive POS and business management solution powered by cloud-hosted software, which empowers merchants and developers with easy access to app building software.
First Data’s eCommerce solution, Payeezy, is also integrated with the Apple software developer kit (or “SDK”), enabling developers and merchants to give consumers the ability to pay with a single touch within apps. The SDK gives merchants and their developers all of the tools they need to get started immediately building an experience for buying within apps that is safe, easy-to-use, commerce-enabled and cost-effective for businesses of all sizes.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their credit and debit cards. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. When paying for goods and services within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
