Updated figures, based on regression analysis, shows gross dollar volume (GDV) for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards (credit + debit) globally will rise 7.1% on a currency adjusted basis (FX) for the second quarter. RAM Research projects global GDV of $3587 billion for the second quarter.
Visa reported a 9.6% YOY (FX) gain (1.3% nominal) for the first quarter in global GDV of $1753 billion, compared to $1900 billion for Q4/14 and $1730 billion for Q1/14. (Visa Europe figures are not included.)
MasterCard posted a 12.1% YOY (FX) gain (1.8% nominal) with first quarter global GDV of $1063 billion, compared to $1173 billion for Q4/14 and $1044 billion for Q1/14.
American Express posted a 7.0% YOY (FX) gain (3.0% nominal) with first quarter global GDV of $256 billion, compared to $269 billion for Q4/14 and $254 billion for Q1/14.
Discover reported a 2.0% YOY nominal gain with first quarter global (+Diners) GDV of $35 billion, compared to $40 billion for Q4/14 and $35 billion for Q1/14.
