Why did you choose to work for Barclaycard?
I started in UK Cards which was an opportunity for me to make a significant difference in a different market from the US. It was new and exciting.
What inspires you?
Family and friends and a desire to keep true to my moral compass.
Tell us something that would surprise people.
I came to the US in 1978 from Pakistan to go to college with $900 cash (no scholarship) and a one-way ticket.
What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
Cleaning toilets at McDonalds. Learned that no job is below anyone as long as one sees a brighter future.
What is your proudest achievement at Barclaycard?
My teams working to turn around businesses both in the UK and US.
What one attribute would you like to be known for?
Always prioritizing for the long term so that I leave a business better than the one I inherited.
