Retail Management Solutions has released a comprehensive, updated e-book, titled: A Pharmacy Owner’s Guide to Point of Sale Security.
Over the last several years, there has been a trend in retail of identity theft and credit card counterfeit fraud; now, the industry is finally doing something about it.
The biggest change to credit card security is upcoming in October, where retailers will be able to accept EMV cards. When this happens, there will be a liability shift from the retailer to the credit card processor. New credit cards are being issued by U.S. banks that contain a new chip that makes it tougher for thieves to counterfeit credit cards. This new chipped credit card is often referred to as EMV.
Available for download at no cost, the e-book touches on a great deal of important POS software pharmacy topics, such as an introduction to POS security, a comprehensive guide to Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, EMV (Europay-Mastercard-Visa) and the new credit card security standards, the importance of virus protection, and so much more.
Protecting this information is paramount in helping clients safeguard their patients and customers against potential identity theft and credit card fraud.
Retail Management Solutions feels that safeguarding a customer’s personal data is a large part of offering excellent customer service.
In addition to the e-book, Retail Management Solutions has included several other resources for their customers to refer to in order to educate themselves on EMV; these resources include a webinar, several articles, and other complimentary downloads on the topic.
As advice to Retail Management Solutions’ customers, Gross suggests that readers pay close attention to the section on EMV and Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE); both sections are critical in diminishing pharmacies acceptance of counterfeit cards and receiving criminal cyber-attacks.
