China-based UnionPay is adding more summer cardholder tourist perks. Up to a 10% discount will be launched by near 1,000 merchants in 21 countries and regions globally. It is the extension of “Traveling the World in Summer Vacation” conducted previously, which managed to cover 8 tourist attractions.
Since now, UnionPay cardholders may enjoy discounts up to 10%, coupons or gifts offered by near 1,000 merchants distributed among 40 business areas, covering more than 10 shopping centers, 12 discount villages and 20 landmark department stores. Such exclusive privileges will last until Nov. 20, 2015, and manage to cover the summer vacation and National Day, among which the special offer of 18 business activities will be valid by the end of 2015.
It is the preferential program of UnionPay cards that UnionPay International launches in the “40 business areas” for the second year successively. At present, more than 14 million merchants and 1.2 million ATMs in 150 overseas countries and regions can accept UnionPay cards. As the acceptance network of UnionPay cards is continuously enlarged, UnionPay International also chooses the most famous shopping centers, high-street designer-label shops, unique hotels and other places frequently visited by tourists in the overseas to create the concept of “core commercial circles”, where the acceptance quality is improved and the card using privileges are delivered more exquisitely.
Compared with the last year, this activity is characterized with such features as a wider preferential range, a more multiple choice of business areas and merchants, and abundant preferential forms.
In addition to those traditionally Summer tourist destinations as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe and Australia, the business areas distributed among newly-emerging tourists destinations as UAE, Turkey and Russia also appear on the preferential list, which may satisfy the more abundant traveling demands of cardholders.
With regard to the selection of concrete business areas and merchants, UnionPay International combines with the tendency of outbound tourism by cardholders more accurately. For instance, as an increasing number of people prefer to visit Japan this year, UnionPay International has selected 10 hot business areas locally for cardholders, which cover 400 merchants. In the meantime, UnionPay International also selects those overseas large-scale merchants as Woodbury Premium Outlets in New York and Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Los Angeles favored by tourists particularly to launch exclusive privileges of UnionPay cards for the first time. Moreover, the catering merchants like Hong Kong IAPM and such culture and entertainment merchants as Taiwan Eslite Bookstore are also been covered.
As the traveling ways selected by cardholders have become more diversified and more and more tourists choose free exercise during summer vacation, the preferential program includes more preferential ways and exclusive services. For instance, the UnionPay “QuickPass” cardholders may enjoy additionally exclusive privileges in Harbour City and Doota Shopping Center. It is available for cardholders visiting Korea to enjoy such value-added services as leaving luggage in UnionPay lounge and using free WIFI. Besides, the UnionPay top-end cardholders may enjoy a series of VIP services in Printemps such as private shopping guide in Chinese, hands free shopping, preferential tax reimbursement and local express. Those may further improve the traveling and shopping experience of cardholders.
