Purchase dollar volume (PDV) for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards (credit + debit) in the U.S. climbed 7.6% year-on-year (YOY) in Q2/15 reaching a record $1205 billion. Visa led the way in the second quarter posting a 8.8% YOY gain for U.S. PDV, according to CardData. However, YOY PDV growth is slowing a tad for all four U.S. networks.
Visa reported second quarter PDV of $683 billion, compared to $628 billion for Q1/15 and $628 billion for Q2/14.
MasterCard posted a 6.9% YOY gain with second quarter PDV of $310 billion, compared to $286 billion for Q1/15 and $290 billion for Q2/14.
American Express posted a 5.2% YOY gain with second quarter PDV of $182 billion, compared to $168 billion for Q1/15 and $173 billion for Q2/14.
Discover reported a 2.4% YOY gain with second quarter PDV of $30 billion, compared to $26 billion for Q1/15 and $29 billion for Q2/14.
