Samsung Electronics America has unleashed Samsung Pay in the United States today. Samsung Pay launched initially in Korea on August 20th. Plans for bringing the service to the China, Spain and the U.K. are also underway.
Samsung Pay will work on Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Note5 and S6 edge+ devices operating on the AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular networks in the United States.
To participate initially, consumers need to have a participating MasterCard, Visa or American Express card issued by Bank of America, Citi, American Express or U.S. Bank. Samsung Pay also offers merchant credit cards through its relationship with Synchrony Financial and additionally, works with acquirers including First Data, Global Payments and TSYS. Over time, Samsung Pay will continue to expand its partnership ecosystem to provide greater flexibility, access, and choice for customers.
Beginning today, Samsung Pay is now available to MasterCard cardholders for everyday purchases. Samsung device owners can use their MasterCard credit, debit and select prepaid and small business cards from participating banks directly through Samsung Pay.

Who can use Samsung Pay? Samsung Pay is now available on select Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy 6 edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones. Consumers simply launch the Samsung Pay app and scan their fingerprint to authorize the payment and pay. U.S. MasterCard cardholders can now make safe, seamless and secure payments with their consumer credit, debit and select prepaid and small business cards.
Where can Samsung Pay be used? Samsung Pay works almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your card in the U.S. Cardholders shopping on the go can use the MasterCard Nearby app which, among many other benefits, can help you locate hundreds of thousands of merchants that accept contactless payments.
