Bank of China has unveiled its first US-themed Great Wall Global Pass travel mate credit card for mainland China. Bank of China had issued Hong Kong-Macau-Taipei-themed, South Korea-themed, Japan-themed and Southeast Asia-themed Great Wall Global Pass travel mate credit cards.
The new card product is specially designed for outbound tourists.
Before, China Construction Bank partnered with UnionPay to issue the UnionPay Dragon Travel Japan credit card and Dragon Travel South Korea credit card, and Agricultural Bank of China had issued Golden Spike Travel Taiwan UnionPay card, which was the first Taiwan-themed travel credit card issued in the Chinese Mainland.
From now on to Feb. 29, 2016, all the Great Wall Global Pass travel mate credit card holders will receive a 5% cash refund with a minimum spending of RMB 500 yuan in a single receipt at selected merchants in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. In the US, such cash refund benefit covers all merchants accepting the UnionPay credit cards. Bank of China will regularly and automatically transfer the cash refunded to cardholders’ accounts, and the maximum refund amount is RMB 200 yuan for each card per month.

Cardholders can make payment with UnionPay credit cards by signature verification at 80% merchants in the US, and make payment with UnionPay debit cards by PIN at all the merchants equipped with PIN pads. At present, UnionPay credit cards issued by most national and regional banks in China support signature-based payment; cardholders can also contact issuers to cancel the transaction PIN before departure to ensure that payment without PIN is available.
