On a non-currency adjusted basis, Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) in Canada for Visa and MasterCard payment cards declined 7.6% Year-on-Year (YOY) in 3Q/15. On an adjusted currency basis (FX) Visa was up 5.2% YOY and MasterCard soared by 19.2% YOY in 3Q/15.
According to CardData, Visa (VS) and MasterCard (MC) racked up US$85 billion in Canadian PDV for 3Q/15, compared to US$90 billion in 2Q/15 and US$92 billion for 3Q/14.
Visa reported US$54 billion in 3Q/15 PDV, compared to US$57 billion in 2Q/15 and US$61 billion for 3Q/14.
MasterCard reported US$31 billion in 3Q/15 PDV, compared to US$33 billion in 2Q/15 and US$31 billion for 3Q/14.
Visa has an estimated 49 million Cards-in-Force (CIF) in Canada at EOY 2014 and MasterCard has 49 million CIF.
