Gross dollar volume (GDV) for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards (credit + debit) in the U.S. climbed 7.7% year-on-year (YOY) in 3Q/15 reaching a record $1400 billion.
Visa led the way in the third quarter posting a 8.7% YOY gain for U.S. GDV.
Visa reported third quarter GDV of $822 billion, compared to $809 billion for 2Q/15 and $756 billion for 3Q/14.
MasterCard posted a 7.7% YOY gain with third quarter GDV of $365 billion, compared to $364 billion for 2Q/15 and $339 billion for 3Q/14.
American Express posted a 4.2% YOY gain with third quarter GDV of $180.3 billion, compared to $182.5 billion for 2Q/15 and $173.0 billion for 3Q/14.
Discover reported a 3.1% YOY gain with third quarter GDV of $33.0 billion, compared to $32.3 billion for 2Q/15 and $33.0 billion for 3Q/14.
