Visa’s (VS) Asia Pacific (AP) region Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) growth heated up year-on-year (YOY) to 16.4%, on a local currency basis, in the third quarter (3Q/15) to US$371 billion, compared to a 12.1% YOY growth rate in 3Q/14.
Based on PDV, the VS AP region remains the second fastest growing region, outside of CEMEA.
VS AP Gross Dollar Volume (GDV) was up 11.0%, on a local currency basis, to U.S. $509 billion in 3Q/15, compared to US$506 billion in 3Q/14 and US$510 billion in 2Q/15. On a U.S. dollar basis GDV was up 0.6% YOY.
VS AP Cash Dollar Volume (CDV) decreased 1.3%, on a local currency basis in 3Q/15 to US$138 billion. The total number of Cash Transactions (CTX) rose to 1041 million, compared to 966 million one-year ago.
VS has an estimated 834 million cards-in-force (CIF) currently in the AP region, compared to 774 million in 3Q/15. The total number of accounts rose to an estimated 739 million in 3Q/15, compared to 677 million for 3Q/15. (VS updates cards and accounts on a one-quarter lag basis)
