Visa’s Asia Pacific (AP) region Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) growth edged down a bit year-on-year (YOY) to 15.7%, on a currency adjusted basis (FX) in the fourth quarter (4Q/15) to US$387 billion, compared to a 10.8% YOY growth rate in 4Q/14.
Based on PDV, the AP region is fastest growing region for Visa, outside the US.
The number of purchase transactions (PTX) soared 16.9% YOY in the fourth quarter to 4674 million, compared to 4394 million in 3Q/15 and 4186 million in the year ago quarter. Visa’s AP Gross Dollar Volume (GDV) was up 10.9% YOY FX to US$526 billion in 4Q/15.
VS AP Cash Dollar Volume (CDV) decreased 0.5% YOY FX in 4Q/15 to US$139 billion. The total number of Cash Transactions (CTX) rose to 1039 million, compared to 974 million one-year ago.
Visa has an estimated 848 million cards-in-force (CIF) currently in the AP region, compared to 797 million in 4Q/14. The total number of accounts rose to an estimated 751 million in 4Q/15, compared to 698 million for 4Q/14. (Visa updates cards and accounts on a one-quarter lag basis)
