MasterCard’s European region 4Q/15 Gross Dollar Volume (GDV) rose year-on-year (YOY) by 15.1% on a currency adjusted basis (FX) and solid compared to 4Q/14’s 15.9% YOY gain.
Europe is MasterCard’s second largest international region based on GDV and PDV.
On a nominal basis, MasterCard’s Europe GDV declined 1.3% to US$341 billion in 4Q/15, compared to US$332 billion in 3Q/15 and US$346 billion in 4Q/14.
Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) rose YOY 13.5% on a currency adjusted basis (FX) in the fourth quarter to US$234 billion. The total number of Purchase Transactions (PTX) hit 4933 million, compared to 4041 million one-year ago.
MasterCard’s Cash Dollar Volume (CDV) was up by 18.8% YOY FX to US$108 billion. The total number of Cash Transactions (CTX) hit 824 million, compared to 718 million one-year ago.
MasterCard has 410 million cards-in-force (CIF) currently in the European region, compared to 374 million in 4Q/14, a 9.6% YOY increase.
The total number of MasterCard Europe accounts (GAC) rose to 393 million in 4Q/15, compared to 358 million for 4Q/14, a 9.8% YOY gain.
