On a non-currency adjusted basis, Purchase Dollar Volume (PDV) in Canada for Visa (VS) and MasterCard (MC) payment cards declined 7.4% year-on-year (YOY) in 4Q/15. However, on an currency adjusted basis (FX) VS was up 4.6% YOY and MC soared by 14.5% YOY in 4Q/15.
VS and MC racked up US$88 billion in Canadian PDV for 4Q/15, compared to US$85 billion in 3Q/15 and US$95 billion for 4Q/14.
VS reported US$55 billion in 4Q/15 PDV, compared to US$54 billion in 3Q/15 and US$612 billion for 4Q/14.
MC reported US$33 billion in 4Q/15 PDV, compared to US$31 billion in 3Q/15 and US$33 billion for 4Q/14.
VS has an estimated 50 million Cards-in-Force (CIF) in Canada at EOY 2015 and MC has 49 million CIF.
