Samsung Pay says it will soon support credit and debit cards from TD Bank and Regions Bank. Additionally, Verifone has teamed with Samsung to accelerate merchant adoption of Samsung Pay.
Samsung Pay is currently supported by 60 Visa and MasterCard banks and credit unions since early March. With the addition of these banks, Samsung Pay continues to grow momentum in the United States—supporting eligible credit and debit cards from more than 130 banks and credit unions, representing over 75% of the US credit and debit card market.
Samsung Pay supports all major payment networks and many of the country’s major banks, and it continues to expand its partnership ecosystem.
Samsung Pay uses Near-Field Communication (NFC), as well as its proprietary technology – Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) – to deliver secure tokenized transactions for terminals that have EMV and NFC capabilities, as well as existing terminals that only accept magnetic stripe (or “swipe”) payments.
