Chase Enhances United MileagePlus Explorer Card

Chase Card Services announced all purchases made with the United MileagePlus Explorer Card outside of the U.S. will no longer be subject to foreign transaction fees. A cardmember spending $3,000 while traveling outside of the U.S. would save $90. This enhancement adds to the other unique benefits, such as a free checked bag, priority boarding and two United Club® passes per year, that MileagePlus Explorer cardmembers already enjoy. Cardmembers and up to one traveling companion will receive their first checked bag free on United operated flights when they purchase their ticket with their card- worth up to $100 per roundtrip. Service charges for additional/oversized/overweight bags will apply. Cardmembers also board prior to general boarding, so they have earlier access to overhead space and can relax as the rest of the plane boards and earn 10,000 additional bonus miles after spending $25,000 or more on the Card each calendar year.

NCR Installs First EMV Compliant ATM in U.S.

NCR Corporation has begun upgrading ATMs at People’s United Bank with the new consumer card security technology, in conjunction with Vantiv and Pendum, and the first EMV ATM in the US is officially in service. The first upgraded ATMs are the People’s United Bank ATMs located at their 250 Park Avenue, New York, branch. The upgrade includes an upgrade to the card reader hardware inside the machines as well as a software upgrade. Since 2011, NCR has been shipping all SelfServ™ ATMs with smart card readers as standard. Globally, 36 percent of cards and 65 percent of terminals in deployment run using the EMV standard. Vantiv became the first U.S. acquirer to complete MasterCard’s testing requirements to process EMV transactions for MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus brands at both ATM and at the point-of-sale locations.

Monitise Sees 60K subscribers to New BBM Money Service

Monitise announced the early success of BBM Money, the P2P mobile payments service launched through its Joint Venture with Astra International in partnership with PT Bank Permata Tbk (PermataBank) and BlackBerry. Since going live at the end of February 2013, the service has attracted more than 60,000 registered users towards its end of 2013 target of 200,000. BBM Money gives BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) customers in Indonesia the ability to instantly create and access a Mobile Money account from their BlackBerry smartphone and make real-time payments to their BBM contacts who are also signed up to the service, at any time from wherever they are. The simple and secure service also enables users to buy mobile airtime credit and transfer money to bank accounts.

NCR Corporation is working with Jamba Juice, in collaboration with PayPal, on a series of customized mobile solutions, including a Jamba Juice branded iOS® and Android™ mobile ordering and payment solution. This ordering functionality is available today in select Jamba Juice locations via the PayPal app to millions of customers and allows consumers to place mobile orders and pay directly from their smartphone. The customized mobile ordering solution will seamlessly integrate with the NCR Aloha point-of-sale (POS) platform. It is expected to improve speed of service and offer a differentiated experience to Jamba Juice customers, enabling them to skip the line to pick-up their order.

Xoom & Vesta Partner on International mTransfers

Xoom digital money transfer provider, and Vesta Corporation, mobile payments provider, announced a partnership to offer international money transfers using mobile devices. The Vesta PayMobile wallet allows users to top-up their prepaid iPhone and Android devices with some of the largest carriers in the US. Through this partnership, the Vesta wallet will also provide subscribers with access to Xoom’s money transfer services directly from their smartphone. Through the wallet app built by Vesta, users will be able to sign up for the Xoom service, and send money to friends and family in Latin America, the Philippines, India, Europe, Australia and South Africa from their smartphone.

Mako Networks completed its fourth consecutive PCI DSS audit, certified as a Level 1 service provider”the highest level of qualification attainable. Huntington Bank Commercial Card Offers Payables Automation, Rebates

Huntington Bank began streamlining invoice and expense payment workflow processes using the MasterCard-branded Huntington commercial credit card. The card combines online card and data management tools and provides a unique monthly rebate payment. Introduced at a time when total estimated U.S. commercial card spend on indirect and direct purchasing will reach $200 billion in 2013, Huntington is now offering a comprehensive set of products for its award-winning treasury management services. This will improve working capital by paying suppliers but deferring cash outflow for up to 50 days, without a finance charge while rebate payments are available up to 13 months sooner than those provided by typical card issuers with annual or single rate scheduled rebates that usually pay out in February of the following year. Huntington’s monthly tiered rebate measure and payment structure is unique, giving customers the opportunity to more quickly pocket higher returns corresponding with monthly spikes in spend volume during the year.

NCR and LevelUp to Deploy mPayment

NCR Corporation (NCR) announced an agreement for LevelUp to integrate their mobile payment and loyalty solution into NCR’s restaurant POS systems, giving restaurants another way to accept mobile payments and market to their customers. The integration will provide restaurants with an easy-to-use digital payment method and offer consumers a seamless experience when paying for their meal with the LevelUp application. LevelUp will initially interface with the industry-leading NCR Aloha POS using a site-based integration, while in parallel developing its solution for deployment via NCR Cloud Connect expected later this year and will be one of the first to integrate into Cloud Connect, a new hosted infrastructure that will allow leading third parties to integrate, maintain and deploy their solution across NCR’s install base of more than 100,000 locations on the Aloha, Radiant POS and Advanced Restaurant System platforms.
