Vircom has successfully integrated its flagship email security solution “modusGate” with VMware vSphere 4, passed a detailed evaluation and testing process
managed by VMware and is now listed on the VMware Partner Product Catalog. With this, Vircom completed specific qualifications and interoperability
requirements to ensure its solution is optimized and reliable for VMware environments. VMware Ready Software status provides customers with the assurance
that modusGate email security has proven compatibility with the VMware platform and is ready for deployment in customer environments, reducing risk and
lowering integration costs for organizations.


Visa Canada announced has introduced its first debit cards in the Canadian marketplace through CIBC. The first Canadian issuer to offer Visa Debit through its “CIBC Advantage Card,” CIBC will now allow its customers to shop online, by phone, mail and in more than 200 countries and territories using debit funds from their accounts. POS “CIBC Advantage Card” purchases will be processed through Interac debit network. Purchases made online, over the phone, by mail or internationally will be processed over Visa’s network, offering Visa “Zero Liability Policy;” The “Visa E-Promise;” “Verified by Visa;” and the three-digit security code (CVV2) located on the back of the card to avoid CNP fraud.


Smartcard Marketing Systems has inked prepaid debit card distribution agreements with an Italian travel agency that specializes in Caribbean, European and US tours. The agency books tours for about 24,000 travellers per year between its business and pleasure tours. With this, the client travelers are given a secure and easy-to-use way to carry spending money during their trip on a prepaid debit card while the agency is provided the platform needed to manage the program. The agency also can deliver the platform and combination of prepaid debit cards in a cost effective manner.


Transoft is encouraging green initiatives with its “OptiCash” and “OptiVault” software applications suite through newly-available features. With this, the new “OptiCarbon” module is available to all Transoft customers immediately in the latest released version 8 of “OptiCash” and “OptiVault,” and will soon be available in Transoft’s “OptimizeCF” popular SaaS offering.

The Precidia Technologies IP payment and networking payment engine application, “Transnet,” has been integrated with the Crystal Point restaurant POS system from Prime Dine Systems. The “TransNet” applications lets restaurants offer full featured payments with customizable monitoring and management tools. The “TransNet” payment engine software integrates with POS systems like Crystal Point for secure, PCI PA-DSS validated payment processing. Precidia’s payment system features a unique router-based model, with the TransNet hardware housed on the secure, SSL encrypted and firewalled POSLynx220 payment router.


American Express Canada has introduced the “Gold Rewards Card,” offering a new concept in the travel rewards marketplace. Designed to give Cardmembers more choice and freedom from the limitations associated with other programs, the American Express “Gold Rewards Card” does not force Cardmembers to choose between paying-with-points or transferring points to their preferred frequent flyer program. Whatever cardholders can find, they can use their points toward by booking their travel, paying for it on their Card and then calling American Express to pay-with-points. This is in response to data showing 80 % of Canadians participate in a credit card rewards program; 79% of Canadians collect rewards points, nearly one in four have let their points expire; and 70% of Canadians always or sometimes use debit cards for their everyday purchases.


Gemalto digital security expanded its facility in Burlington, Ontario to serve its growing EMV customer base in Canada. The investment will double the capacity and accommodate the need for delivering additional cardholder services. The site is the first in Canada to personalize dual-interface smart banking cards that enable both contactless and contact payment. Gemalto had 2009 annual revenues of EUR1.65 billion, and over 10,000 employees operating out of 75 offices, with research and service centers in 41 countries.


Transaction Network Services Canada has launched its “TNSLink” service to provide secure communications via 3G wireless channels. This provides banks and
ISOs a choice of provider for ATM communications services. The service is PCI DSS compliant and enables dial devices to leverage wireless technology to
transport payment related data. It utilizes the Transaction Network Services (TNS) Canada managed Secure SSL Gateway specifically designed for the payments
industry for secure ATM transaction delivery.


On September 30 at the Yonge and Eglinton Centre, thousands of cans will be transformed into a 16-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower to mark the official launch of the American Express “Gold Rewards Card.” The American Express-sponsored installation symbolizes what’s possible with this new concept in travel rewards. With double reward point accumulation on everyday purchases like gas, grocery and drugstore, the American Express Gold Rewards Card can quickly transform cans into vacations. The new Card is also designed to give Cardmembers unprecedented choice and flexibility when redeeming points, and freedom from restrictions associated with other programs.


Randy Fowlie has been appointed to the RDM Corporation Board of Directors. Specializing in software and hardware products for electronic payment processing, RDM chose Fowlie for the position thanks to his extensive experience. He operated a consulting practice since 2006 after having previously held the position of Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media, of Harris Corporation software and hardware company. From 1998 to 2005 he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Inscriber Technology Corporation, a software company acquired by Leitch in 2005. Previously Mr. Fowlie was a partner with KPMG LLP, Chartered Accountants, where he worked from 1984 to 1998.
