The biggest Croatian bank, Zagrebačka Banka, has inked a deal with UK-based Paysera, an e-money institution licensed in Europe. The partnership will drive the costs of international money transfers to Croatia
to 1 HRK (0.13 EUR).
Due to a sixth year of recession, Croatia’s number of payments cards-in-force (CIF) has remained flat at 8.5 million. However, in terms of transaction value, payment cards valued HRK116.1 billion (US$20.3 billion) in 2013, after registering a CAGR of 1.07% since 2009.
Erste Group Card Processor (EGCP) recently licensed FASTest, the popular function/regression testing solution from Paragon Application Systems, to speed and simplify their migration from their legacy switch to BPC’s SmartVista. EGCP required a solution that would simulate and test all of the endpoints of their transaction processing for complete function and regression testing during the migration process. Paragon provided FASTest for the following financial message formats: Visa, MasterCard, SPDH, HISO 87, HISO 93, ATM and BIC ISO. To increase productivity, EGCP schedules tests to run unattended and receives a report with the results. Using the “Compare” feature in FASTest, EGCP can run tests and compare recent test results to previous test results to confirm the reliability of their system.
Ingenico announced the deployment of an innovative fiscal solution, along with its local partner Etranet Group, for Hrvatski Telekom telecommunication services. Further to the implementation of a fiscal law in Croatia, Ingenico in partnership with Etranet group (Croatian specialist in electronic payment transaction systems) and Hrvatski Telekom developed an innovative all-in-one cash register solution combining Ingenico latest generation of payment terminals with fiscal application developed by Etranet Group to equip Hrvatski Telekom customers. The solution is based on Ingenico’s range of wireless and countertop terminals (IWL220 GSM & GPRS and ICT220 GPRS). Thanks to Ingenico’s secure software application, tax information is easily transmitted to Croatian tax administration.

Based on the ‘all-in-one’ Ingenico POS solution iPA280 device with GPRS and GPS connectivity, integrated thermal printer and touchscreen display, the units will equip a complete fleet of taxis in Croatia. Intesa Sanpaolo Card card processing has been validated compliant with the PCI DSS by Trustwave. ISP Card had to demonstrate compliance by thoroughly validating its adherence to a comprehensive range of security policies and procedures. To maintain their compliance, ISP Card has enrolled in the Trustwave “TrustKeeper” on-demand compliance management solution to access the necessary tools to support on-going compliance such as quarterly network vulnerability scans. Additionally, ISP Card passed multiple network penetration tests to ensure proper security controls were in place to protect its organization from attacks by data thieves hoping to obtain confidential data.
MoneyGram Internationa has returned to Croatia as Volksbank added MoneyGram’s services to 28 countrywide locations. The return to Croatia follows MoneyGram’s alliance with Volksbank in Serbia in 2008 and the opening of 33 MoneyGram-owned retail locations in Germany since 2006. Germany is home to more than 200,000 Croatians and more than 10 million migrants that regularly send funds to support family members and build personal savings. Since 2006, MoneyGram has steadily grown its owned money transfer retail locations in Germany to help migrant workers meet their financial needs.
In addition to its 190,000 traditional agent locations composed primarily of financial institutions, post offices and retail businesses, MoneyGram recently began mobile money transfer services.

Croatian bank, Zagrebac(ka bank, has deployed its “Aladdin eToken
NG-Flash” USB-based PKI authentication for “e-zaba” online banking.
Combining smartcard authentication with encrypted flash memory to
provide user authentication, identity and access management tools, the
“Aladdin eToken NG-Flash” offers strong encryption to store and protect
sensitive data. Zagrebac(ka bank is a member of the UniCredit Group, has
approximately 1.2 million clients and 90,000 corporate clients while its
“e-zaba” internet banking portal serves 380,000 users. SafeNet & Aladdin
are subsidiaries of Vector Captial and have a combined history of more
than 50 years’ e-security expertise in more than 100 countries around

TransUnion has extended credit reporting operations to Croatia, the fourth
international bureau the agency has opened in two years. With the
partnership of CRIF, an international group specialized in the design,
development and management of credit reporting, the bureau will operate
through the local banking association, HROK, and is the first bank-owned
credit bureau company in the country. The bureau was founded by 20
Croatian banks and will represent more than 90% of the retail banking
market in Croatia. TransUnion employs more than 4,000 employees in more
than 30 countries on six continents.
Net Consulting & Solution and Diners Club have announced that the first
ever Internet credit card transaction in the Macedonian region is to be
conducted. This development is in response to the recent growth in the
amount of issued cards in the region and the need for modernization.
Net Consulting & Solution will partner with the Croatian company, Web
Studio, to offer solutions for on-line payments and card authorization .
NCipher’s payShield hardware security module has been deployed in
Croatia by Privredna Banka Zagreb. PBZ has launched the MasterCard
Chip Authentication Program service to provide stronger
authentication for online or telephone transactions. When accessing
their bank account, users will be prompted to verify their identity by
placing the EMV chip card into a portable reader provided by the bank
and entering their personal identification number. PBZ expects to
have over 40,000 customers using CAP authentication by the end of 2007.
