Reposs has been appointed the only EPoS partner for WHSmith Local using the Reposs Core EPoS Software and Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions SurePOS and TCxWave hardware. WHSmith Local needed an EPoS Solution for their franchisees that could manage product supplied by WHS retail and also manage all the other products and services that are offered by a typical news agent and convenience store. The Reposs solution included all the required features and the knowledge and experience of connecting retail to wholesale to develop the two-way electronic link to WHSmith retail. The WHSmith Local Reposs link enables the retailer to stay up to date with the products supplied by WHS retail. This includes a product file with all retail prices, delivery notes for stock deliveries, promotions and special offers, stock order processing and key sales data processing.

ScanINN automates the hotel registration and reservation process and makes it faster and more efficient. The ScanINN software enables hotel personnel to scan a guest’s ID card to process the information encoded on it, quickly and automatically filling in the electronic forms stored by the hotel’s computer. Compared to manual data entry, this automated procedure not only increases productivity, but also protects against data entry errors and reduces the risk of identity theft. The Company will also offer demonstrations of a variety of different hardware options for reading ID cards, and will also demonstrate its barZapp™ app for Android, iPhone and iPad. BarZapp is an ID-checking mobile app that allows a user’s smartphone to check an ID card.
American Express this morning announced it will add free personal financial management tools to American Express Serve1 and Bluebird starting this summer. These tools help customers monitor their spending by automatically sorting transactions into categories such as bills, food, fun, shopping and transportation so they can easily track where their money is going. When customers log in to their Serve and Bluebird accounts, they will also be able to create budgets, set spending limits and alerts, as well as set and track financial goals.

FIS banking and payments technology, its NYCE® Payments Network and MasterCard announced a licensing agreement that will make MasterCard’s EMV debit solution available to all NYCE participants. EMV chip card adoption is a common goal of the U.S. payments industry, designed to increase card transaction security and decrease card-based fraud. This agreement provides all NYCE Network participants with an EMV license with respect to MasterCard products and continues the advancement toward a secure payment environment. This agreement permits FIS to offer a MasterCard-NYCE solution to all NYCE participants, bringing full EMV deployment across the U.S. another step closer.
First Data and Union Bank commercial bank providing a broad mix of financial services announced the companies finalized a multi-year agreement for debit processing, ATM driving, and card fulfillment output services. First Data will provide the efficiency, scale and functionality required for the $107.2 billion bank and its nearly one million cardholders while the bank continues to manage its own portfolio.

The four major global payment card networks (excluding Visa Europe, CUP and JCB) produced a 3.0% year-on-year (Y/Y) gain in Cash Dollar Volume (CDV) during the first quarter of 2014 (Q1/14). Visa (VS), MasterCard (MC), American Express (AX) and Discover (DS) produced $963 billion in global CDV, compared to $935 billion in the year ago quarter.

Monitise made a series of updates to its executive leadership team and Board of Directors.Former Visa Inc. payments executive Elizabeth Buse has been appointed co-Chief Executive of Monitise Group, effective immediately. Elizabeth also joins the Company’s Board of Directors.Elizabeth, an American national who was a member of the Monitise Board from July 2010 to October 2012, will head Monitise’s day-to-day operations, overseeing technology, product, sales and marketing while Alastair focuses on key relationships with partners and industry stakeholders, corporate development and major shareholders. Strategy will continue to be set by the executive leadership team in conjunction with the Board.
