U.S. Bank and Mitek Systems mobile imaging software solutions provider, a pioneer of Mobile Deposit technology, forged a strategic mobile technology partnership to offer Mitek’s Mobile Photo Bill Pay product to U.S. Bank customers. Mobile Photo Bill Pay will allow U.S. Bank customers to set up bill payments by simply snapping a picture of their paper bill using their camera-enabled smartphone or tablet. The new feature eliminates the need to manually enter biller and payment information, and allows the customer to make bill payments directly from their mobile device.
USA Technologies and The Pepi Companies completed Pepi’s transition to 100% cashless. The first full-service food and beverage vending company that offers cashless on all its vending equipment, Pepi utilizes USAT’s “ePort” cashless payment technology and comprehensive ePort Connect service for its vending machine base. Pepi and USAT began working on a plan to roll out a cashless solution to Pepi’s vending machine base over the course of a five-year period. The company elected to accelerate that time table, offering 100 percent cashless solution for the remainder of the machine base by the end of 2012.

Mocapay merchant-centric and mobile marketing solution provider launched a token solution mobilization platform that mobilizes any third party service POS payment solution, closing the loop for customer transactions within merchants’ POS platform. Consumers may use their mobile device and select a payment method, loyalty card, or coupon and receive a 6-digit single-use perishable Mocapay code that is delivered to their handset. The interaction between the handset and the Mocapay host provides for a secure and fast delivery of a single use token that acts as a stand-in for sensitive account credentials. The new API simplifies integration into the merchant’s POS or third party service or payment provider without making any change to store or back office operations.
MasterCard announced US Airways has become the first airline in the world to accept MasterCard PayPass-enabled cards and devices for in-flight purchases. Enabled by GuestLogix, US Airways passengers can now buy food, beverages and other services by simply tapping their MasterCard PayPass-enabled card and devices helping to speed up transaction times and provide increased convenience. This is designed to quicken the time it takes to process card payments in-flight and allows passengers to simply tap their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a PayPass-accepting reader.
Better ATM Services has begun to issue its “myGIFT” card ATM-issued multibrand prepaid card. The “myGIFT” One Card Many Choices Discover Prepaid Card allows consumers to shop at premier, nationally recognized restaurant and retail stores including Macy’s, Lowe’s, Outback Steakhouse, and Bonefish Grill. Cards are redeemable to buy goods and services at specific merchants that accept Discover cards. The “myGIFT” cards will be available at walk-up Banner Federal Credit Union ATMs at eleven select Banner Health ATM locations. The new ATM-dispensed card is made of a thin, durable material allowing cards to easily pass through an ATMs’ cash mechanisms and works like any other prepaid card.

USA Technologies wireless, cashless payment and M2M telemetry solutions for small-ticket, self-serve retailing industries, announced it’s expanding mobile payment acceptance to 7,500 vending machines with its NFC-enabled “ePort” technology and “ePort” Connect service. The Isis Mobile Wallet is expected to simplify the shopping and paying experience as consumers make vending machine purchases with a simple tap of their phone. Vending operators just need to install USAT’s NFC-enabled technology and display the type of signage typical for other payment networks.

Global Payments and Casio Electronics have been working together on a new Electronic PoS package for small high-street retailers, whom have been traditionally challenged with sourcing the separate components of their PoS solution from a variety of suppliers with hardware, software, PoS installation and support.
