PayByPhone Lets Drivers use Cell to Pay for On-Street Parking

The City of Seattle has dispatched PayByPhone to introduce a pay-by-phone payment service for its 13,000 on-street paid parking spaces, allowing drivers to use their cell phones to pay for parking. PayByPhone payments are made by entering the block’s unique location number and the length of parking time desired. Customers will only have to sign up once with their credit card and license plate either online, via the app or by phone, which can be done quickly and easily at the point of parking. Drivers can also choose to receive a text message reminder before their parking time expires, with the option to add time remotely (subject to time limit restrictions) and receive parking receipts by email.

Kaiku Finance Launches Prepaid Visa Card

Kaiku Finance launched its KAIKU Visa Prepaid Card reloadable prepaid debit card. The KAIKU Card empowers consumers to more effectively manage their money, offering affordability, transparency, access, convenience and mobility. For it, cardholder funds are FDIC insured; there is no activation fee; cardholders can load funds by cash, from a credit card, from a bank account, by transfer from another KAIKU Card; and is valid wherever Visa is accepted. It also features free apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry; free card-to-card, bank-to-card and Paypal-to-card transfers; and charges no inactivity fee. KAIKU estimates cardholders will save an average of $65 – $225 annually compared to similar usage with traditional reloadable prepaid debit cards.

Lemon Launches Wallet on Google Play and Debuts Lemon for Business

The Lemon mobile wallet platform made available the Lemon Wallet on Android and launched its Lemon for Business. The Lemon Wallet customers already scanned over a half million cards to digitize and back-up their wallet data, stored behind Lemon’s proprietary government-caliber security technology. The Lemon Wallet easy-to-use tool for digitizing and backing up all of the items traditionally carried in a physical wallet and is more secure than the physical wallet itself. Android users are now able to download the App from Google Play for any Android 4.0 or higher smartphone to snap a photo of each item in their wallet, including debit, credit, loyalty healthcare and ID cards, as well as receipts, tickets and coupons.

American Express launched its “Social Media Show + Tell” series, adding tutorial videos explaining how small businesses can leverage Twitter to extend their brand influence. Ink from Chase Card Services launched its enhanced rewards program for the Ink Plus credit card, allowing cardholders to accumulate customized points quicker for their small business, featuring five points per dollar spent at office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, Internet and cable TV services; two points per dollar spent at gas stations and hotels, and one point on all other spending. The “Ink Plus” program lets cardholders earn five points per dollar on the first $50,000 in annual spend at office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, Internet and cable TV services and two points per dollar on the first $50,000 in annual spend at gas stations and on hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel. Also, Ink cardholders can earn one point per dollar on all other card purchases, with no limits.
