BIDV becomes JCBI’s 10th partner financial institution and provides card acceptance at their 15,000 accepting locations to all JCB cardmembers issued in Vietnam as well as 16 other countries out of Vietnam.
BPC Banking Technologies announced Saigon Hanoi Bank (SHB) acquired HabuBank to now operates a network of 250 branches, 250 ATMs and over 500 POS-terminals. The migration of HabuBank’s payment channels and cards to SmartVista was subsequently completed in only three months entirely by SHB staff. The Bank has subsequently launched a number of new initiatives powered by SmartVista, including more POS services as part of SHB’s merchant program.
The only payment card brand based in Japan is bringing a new middle market credit card to Vietnam. The new JCB Dreamcard is geared towards moderate income customers of Ho Chi Minh City-based Vietnam Techcombank. The co-branded credit card is being offered to customers with an average monthly income from 4 million VND (Vietnamese Dong) or US$188. Techcombank Dreamcard cardholders will receive a credit limit of up to 2 months salary with this card. The minimum repayment amount starts from 10% of outstanding balance.
TSYS announced Vietnam Eximbank begun to deploy fingerprint authentication technology for over-the-counter or ATM transactions. Vietnam Eximbank is one of the first banks in Vietnam to apply this technology that enables customers to make a transaction without having the physical card, ID, phone or card number present for identification, and uses only fingerprint verification when performing transactions at the counter or at the ATM. Vietnam Eximbank licenses TSYS’ PRIME single-platform payment processing solution to manage its issuing, acquiring and payment acceptance services. Vietnam Eximbank is planning to extend the biometric solution to point-of-sale networks where fingerprints can be used instead of ID and payment cards. It plans to make these types of transactions common across Vietnam by working with other banks in the country to build acceptance of its fingerprint authentication solution as the de facto standard deployed across the national switch.
